Robert Ruck began his affair with the guitar at age 16. He started out playing flamenco and classical guitar but felt as though he were "musically challenged," and began to build guitars. By age 20, guitar building was his full-time occupation but eventually he'd go on to build other stringed instruments that were more or less related to the guitar.
Ruck has a unique philosophy about building and how personal the instrument is to a player. Everything from the wood he uses for the braces to the type of finish applied to the guitar he believes comes from the player's personality. Overall his guitars are very traditional in appearance with slight variations.
