Manuel Reyes grew up in Granada, Spain and studied with various teachers until 1949, the year he started his own shop. Shortly after this, he was introduced to the legendary Marcelo Babero and moved to Madrid to study with the great guitar builder. Reyes considers himself more of a flamenco guitar builder than a classical guitar builder. His guitars have the old mysterious sound of Spain that many flamenco players long for. The guitars are powerful, percussive, well-rounded, and dynamic sounding instruments with enough charatcer to make the capable guitarist stand-out in a large flamenco group.
