The first Kathrin Hauser guitar available in the US was modeled after a 1927 guitar her Great Grandfather built. It features that wonderful German spruce the Hauser family is famous for, paired with dark Indian rosewood which ties into the dark aesthetic of the water buffalo horn Reischl machines and black carbon nut and saddle. The workmanship is stunning, clean and everything you'd expect from a fifth generation instrument builder (her Great-Great Grandfather Josef was a zither builder).

Kathrin's guitar has that distinct "Hauser" quality to it with great balance and color. But it seems to have a less of that smooth, elegant, super glassy quality that her fathers instrument have and more of a punchier, strong, vibrant tone. Compared with the last two new Hauser III we've had in, you can push Kathrin's a little harder and dig in a little deeper. The Hauser III's gave a bit more when you backed off and their richness really came out but this 1927 Segovia Model by Kathrin just pops a bit more as you lay into it.
