Trilogy Tie-Block #1

New Luthier: Carlos Acosta

Acosta Label

A new luthier was generating quite a bit of buzz at La Guitarra California and lucky for us, our table was right next to his! Carlos Acosta hails from Ontario, CA and started building about one year ago. He was showing two models up in Santa Maria, his standard model and a Friederich model; both of which had exceptional sound and color and quite frankly blew both John and I away! Carlos is not only a builder but an accomplished player as well and he has his classical guitar degree from the University of Arizona where he studied with Tom Patterson. He was especially known for his beautiful tone production. We are thrilled to be working with this talented, yound luthier and look forward to sharing his guitars with all of you.

We have just placed an order for a Friederich model built with some excellent wood Carlos selected from our secret stash. An Acosta Standard Model complete with an elevated fingerboard, a big, rich sound, and a great price tag is currently in stock and listed here.

Roland Dyens Concert and Masterclass

Almost  one year ago to the day, Roland Dyens played his first concert at Trilogy Guitars and amazed our Concert Go-Ers with the American debut of his exceptional arrangements of the Brazilian choro composer, arranger, flutist and saxophonist; Pixinguinha (The CD he recorded of this material is now available from GSP click here). He made a return to the Triangle at the beginiing of October to share these arrangements again as well give us some music by Villa-Lobos and of course some original Dyens pieces (Songe Capricorne being my personal favorite).

Roland stuck around Friday to teach two masterclass sessions to the wonderful kids from Servite High School and Orange County High School of the Arts
